The Friday Café is consolidated as a support space for families with children in palliative care.

Madrid, January 29, 2025.- A new edition of The Friday Coffee» in Foundation porque Live , a peer support group where they can share experiences beyond the disease.

Next Friday 31 begins a new edition of The Friday Coffee , an initiative of the Foundation porque Live  aimed at accompanying and providing support to families with children in pediatric palliative care. This safe space, run by the Foundation's social work area, offers participants the opportunity to share experiences, opinions and information in an environment of trust and mutual understanding.

Pediatric palliative care is not only focused on the child's medical care, but on the holistic well-being of the entire family. In this context, The Friday Coffee It becomes a fundamental meeting point where families can talk about daily life, beyond the disease, in the company of people who are going through similar situations.

This meeting will be held on a Friday of each month, thus providing constant support to families who need it.

Social work supporting families

The social worker plays a key role in this support group, facilitating conversations, offering guidance and generating an environment of listening and accompaniment. Their work is essential for families to feel understood, strengthened and less alone on their journey. "This space allows families to express themselves freely, without fear of judgment, and find support in those who really understand their situation," says Jara González Mañanas, a social worker at Foundation porque Live , within the EAPS Group promoted by La Caixa Foundation . "It is a place where bonds are generated, where families feel that they are not alone and where they can share both their fears and their joys."

Some of the families who have participated in previous editions highlight the importance of this space, assuring that it is a "breath of fresh air" in the midst of their reality. They say that it has helped them to feel accompanied by people who understand what they are experiencing without the need for explanations.
