The PORQUEVIVEN Foundation promotes training in paediatric palliative care at the European University of Madrid

The PORQUEVIVEN Foundation, a benchmark in the field of paediatric palliative care in Spain, continues its training and dissemination work with the workshop "People-centred care", aimed at physiotherapy teachers from the European University of Madrid (UAM).

The Crucial Role of Pediatric Palliative Care Training

The training of health professionals in the field of paediatric palliative care (PPC) is essential to ensure comprehensive and humanised care for the most vulnerable patients. The PORQUEVIVEN Foundation stands out as a National Reference Organization in this field, working to improve the lives of children in CPP and their families.

The workshop, led by Ricardo Martino Alba, director of the UAIPP of the Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid, together with a team of experts from the PORQUEVIVEN Foundation, has as its main objective to provide knowledge and tools that allow health sciences teachers to transmit to their students the integration of scientific knowledge with the humanization of care.

The active-participatory methodology, combined with theoretical talks and the resolution of practical cases in groups, is designed to encourage reflection and the exchange of experiences among the attendees.

Workshop Program

Going through university is a crucial experience in the training of future health professionals. The responsibility for shaping skills, attitudes and abilities falls, to a large extent, on the university community and its professors. Science and technology are essential. But without focusing on the vulnerable person, its meaning and effectiveness decrease, also affecting the professional.

Fundamental Principles of the PORQUEVIVEN Foundation

The mission of the PORQUEVIVEN Foundation is focused on ensuring that all children in palliative care receive comprehensive and humanized care, respecting their dignity and promoting their well-being and that of their families. The Foundation's core values include dissemination, awareness and training, with the aim of raising awareness in society and training professionals capable of providing quality care.

For its part, the European University of Madrid, committed to the training of new professionals in the context of paediatric palliative care, recognises the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with person-centred care. In this way, students can face the challenges of modern healthcare with empathy and competence.

With these initiatives, the PORQUEVIVEN Foundation reaffirms its commitment to education and awareness of paediatric palliative care. This workshop is part of their ongoing efforts to promote the humanization of health care, ensuring that future health professionals are prepared not only technically, but also emotionally to face the challenges of their profession.
