The JUANITO MARAVILLA and PORQUEVIVEN foundations join forces in the development of paediatric palliative care
The Juanito Maravilla Foundation has signed an agreement to collaborate in the Casa Betania Project , the first paediatric palliative care centre in Spain, which PORQUEVIVEN Foundation is going to build in Madrid. The proceeds made by the Juanito Maravilla Foundation in its various activities will be used for the construction and start-up of the center.
Casa Betania has been designed to serve children on a day basis and the families of these children who, coming from all over Spain, need a respite service. The centre will also contribute to completing the training of specialists in the field of Pediatric Palliative Care , a branch that is practically non-existent in our country. The agreement was signed by the presidents of the aforementioned entities, José Platas Platas and Thomas Nuño Mayer, at the headquarters of the Association of Foundations of Spain.
At the end of the event, José Platas highlighted "The role that sport can play to help children and their families, who are in this situation. It is an exciting project in which we are going to throw ourselves with all our strength" . For his part, Thomas Nuño thanked "the support of the Juanito Maravilla Foundation to this much-needed project. We can all help improve the lives of children who are not going to be cured. A thousand thanks to all of you who help these children and their families." .
The agreement has been published by AS Newspaper and it has had a wide impact on social networks.
