The Foundation because Live It brings together several families who need paediatric palliative care in a day of fun and coexistence. The initiative, framed within the Cuidar-Te program, has been designed so that the families who live with the incurable disease of their children find spaces of respite, normalization and social bonding.
Madrid, September 15, 2025 – Last weekend we celebrated in Zaragoza the II Family Day, a meeting that brought together 60 participants in the Zaragoza Camping, with the collaboration of Atlantic Ocean Group . It was a day full of recreational activities – face painting, badge workshop, collective mural of hands, food and dancing with a mobile disco – in which the most important thing was to share, get to know each other and generate life experiences.
These meetings, framed in the Cuidar-Te program, aim to offer families a space for coexistence and fun, beyond medical care.
💬 "These are days in which the whole family can participate: patients, siblings, caregivers and parents. We create a context that favors normalization and integration where families feel accompanied and put aside, for a few hours, the routine of the disease."
—Leonor Peinado, social worker of Foundation because They live in Aragon
Beyond medical care
These days are a great advantage for families living with the illness of a child in pediatric palliative care. As these are recreational activities and not therapeutic interventions, they offer a different space, where the important thing is to enjoy, laugh, dance and create memories in community.
Sharing these moments with other families going through similar situations favors social integration, helps to normalize daily life and generates bonds of support that strengthen both patients and their fathers, mothers and siblings.
💬 "Social isolation is one of the greatest risks faced by these families. Therefore, generating spaces like this, where they interact, support each other and have fun, is essential for their emotional well-being."
—Raquel García Ramo, psychologist of Foundation because They live in Aragon
The voice of families
In addition to the gaze of the professionals, the undisputed protagonists of the day are always the families. Their testimonies reflect the importance of these spaces and the value they find in being able to share experiences with other people who are going through similar situations.
It's clear that when you take care of the small details, you create great memories. Because, as our families remind us, Every moment counts.
In any case, this alliance between the Foundation because Live and HABasket shows that sport and solidarity can go hand in hand, inspiring young people and adults to build together a more just, conscious and committed society.
💬 “ We had a good time and a lot of fun. We really felt that we were accompanied by "ours". With the family. Like at home."
—Teo , Emma's mom
This meeting is possible thanks to the personal income tax subsidy of the Government of Aragon and the collaboration of Ibercaja and "la Caixa" Foundation , as well as the support of Camping Zaragoza and Océano Atlántico, to whom we are deeply grateful for their involvement and commitment to families in need of paediatric palliative care.
