On Wednesday 15th, the Niño Jesús University Hospital in Madrid held a conference entitled "The child who confused the hospital with his home" and aims to be a place for meeting and reflection on the current situation of complex chronic paediatric patients in the Community of Madrid. At the opening table of the day were present Ms. Ana G. Moreno. Director of nursing. H. U. Niño Jesús, the Hon. Mr. Javier Maldonado. Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Mr. Marcelino Cucarella. Medical Director. H. U. Niño Jesús and D. Ricardo Martino. Head of the Paediatric Palliative Care Unit. H. U. Niño Jesús.
During the meeting, it was commented that there are many children who spend too much time in hospitals or who have to go to them frequently. In the Community of Madrid there are 1800 children who require specialized health care. This group of patients has specific needs that are different from those of adults who need to be addressed. The ideal is to ensure that these children can live as long as possible in their homes, with constant home care, making their lives and those of their family as normal as possible.
