For this reason, we invite you to discover here the keys to our work and the pioneering project we are developing, the Comprehensive Paediatric Palliative Care Centre (CAPPI) that will open its doors in Madrid in 2026.
What is Pediatric Palliative Care (CPP)?

These are care with a focus on comprehensive care of physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs of children with incurable diseases and their families. The idea is fill their LIVES with LIFE .

The Pediatric Palliative Care they are longer care processes, many times, years. It must be taken into account that the child is in continuous physical, psychological and emotional development.

In Spain 60,000 families. Only 15% are attended. In Madrid approx. 3,500, of which approx. 30% are attended.

Families are currently served in the Autonomous Community of Madrid and Aragon. And we support the dissemination and training of volunteers and public and private entities throughout Spain.

No. The professionals of Foundation because Live they coordinate with the Paediatric Palliative Care team of the Niño Jesús Hospital to optimise the use of their resources and care for families.

No. Any patient who is receiving Pediatric Palliative Care can be seen by Foundation because Live . Sometimes they go to the Foundation families who have lost a child unexpectedly and want support for grief. We always assess their needs to attend to them or direct them to another type of resource that is more appropriate.

We do not know if they are insufficient But the needs of families are endless .In Madrid, excellent care is provided with a team with 24/7 response capacity. What it provides Foundation because Live are additional services that are not included in the usual portfolio of services of a public Paediatric Palliative Care unit.

It is a social and health resource that complements health services with aspects that ordinary or home hospitalisation does not contemplate. The CAPPI is the first comprehensive paediatric palliative care centre to be built in Spain. It was created in Madrid because here, public health guarantees care for children with palliative needs and their families. CAPPI will complement this care with additional resources for respite and socialization.

Rooms to accommodate children for the respite of caregivers, Day Center, Integration Classroom, Therapy Area, Training Center for professionals and apartments for end of life.

The Comprehensive Pediatric Palliative Care Center It is designed to accommodate 30 children in family respite, although, if necessary, it will have a capacity to expand to 60 patients.

It will also have 24 beds that will be distributed in its Day Center besides 4 apartments designed for the End-of-life care .

The CAPPI will start operating in Madrid in mid-2026 , complementing from then on with public health to offer comprehensive care services in Paediatric Palliative Care.

These are periods of Respite Care Offered to Families Caring for Children with Palliative Care Needs . These respite provides primary caregivers with an opportunity to rest, take care of your own well-being and regain energy , while ensuring that the child continues to receive Quality Care . Family respite may include temporary hospital stays or skilled residences, home care services, or recreational and therapeutic activities.

Respite programs offer families an opportunity to reduce stress and emotional fatigue. They help caregivers avoid emotional claudication, allowing them to maintain their well-being and continue to provide quality care for the child in the long term, ensuring a better balance in your daily life.
